Who we are

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Nowak

is the vice-director of the Europe Institute for Social Work in Berlin. As a professor of social economy and sociology at the Alice Salomon University he established numerous international research projects, e.g. a Russian-German double master in Intercultural Social Work. His research interests include migration, human rights, globalisation of social work, and social policy.

Michael Junghans

is a project manager at the Europe Institute for Social Work in Berlin, where he manages a portfolio on human trafficking and other human rights issues. He is passionate about addressing human trafficking at the global level, and volunteers a lot of time to promote the activities of the UN Global Initiative to Fight Trafficking (UNGIFT).

Virginia Moukouli

is a research consultant at the Europe Institute for Social Work in Berlin, where she works on human trafficking and migration policy. As a social scientist working at the University of Hamburg, she has extensive work experience in the management of international research projects. Her research interests include migration, human rights, impact of globalisation, science policy, and the sociology of education.
